Properties Post

Properties:
  • Commutative Property
  • Associative Property
  • Inverse Property of Addition
  • Identity Property of Addition
  • Identity Property of Multiplication
  • Multiplication Property of Zero

Make a real-life example not shown in the videos you've seen for each property above. You will receive two points for each appropriate example. Make sure to include both of your names. Good luck, and be creative!

  1. Commutative Property:
    Brian is coloring a rainbow with markers. He has them in the specific order that he wants to use them. Then Alina changes the order. However Brian still uses all the markers.

    Associative Property:
    In the IT office, Brian is working with two computers while Alina is working with one computer. However, one of Brian’s computer was taking too long so Brian gave the other computer to Alina to finish the work faster.

    Inverse Property of Addition:
    Brian had 7 candy bars. He was going to share with Alina, but he ate them all. So there were 0 candy bars he could share with her.

    Identity Property of Addition:
    Brian and Alina decided to have a BB Gun fight. Alina brought 80 bullets, but Brian forgot to bring his own bullets. So, there were only 80 bullets for them to use for the WAR! Alina didn’t want to share, but Brian whined so she kindly gave Brian 40 bullets and they had a fair game.

    Identity Property of Multiplication:
    In Alina’s house, there are 5 animal cages with two dogs In each. However, Brian accidentally left the cages open because he fell asleep. Luckily, all the dogs were still in their cages and Alina was happy.

    Multiplication Property of Zero:
    In the Atlantis Hotel, Brian and Alina was having fun in the Rapid River. However, when the wave came Brian was covered by the wave
    and teleported to a parallel universe. Therefore, Brian wasn’t there anymore.

      Identify of Multiplication: Although you start and end with the same number, nothing is really being multiplied here.

    Commutative Property
    We mix pure water, salt and sugar in the order of salt, water and sugar to form a chemical called sugary salty water.
    The next day, we mix the same substances, but in the order of sugar, salt, and water. It also formed the chemical called the sugary salty water.

    Associative Property
    In a game of mine craft, Notch had to get eggs, milk and bread to create a cake. He got get milk from the cows, eggs from the chicken, and harvested crops to make bread. Then, he put milk and egg in a old bag and the bread in a new bag. On the next day, he did the same thing to make a cake. But this time, he put bread and milk in the new bag and the eggs in the old bag. But as a result, he was able to form the same cake.

    Inverse Property of Addition
    There was a person who was always negative, and there was a person who was always positive. One day, they decided to share their ideas with each other so they both became normals(neutral).

    Identity Property of Addition
    There was a person who scored an ‘F’ everyday. Then one day, a friend came by and told that he will help the failing friend. But the friend forgot his promise and went to the Vivaldi Park with his other friends. So the failing friend wasn’t able to get help so he got an ‘F’ again.. (0+0=0)

    Identity Property of Multiplication
    A box that contained 12 apples was delivered to a fruit shop. The shop owner ordered 5 boxes that contained 12 apples, but only one box was delivered that contained twelve apples. The fruit shop got 12 apples from one box (12*1=12).

    Multiplication Property of Zero
    This person was planning to ride the T-Express 7 times in Everland. But he got a cold that was unexpected so he wasn’t able to go to Everland. As a result, he rode the T-Express 0 times. (7*0=0)

    Associative Property
    One boy stands between Maki and Sally. The boy goes to Maki, and Sally remains with no one. Then, the boy goes to Sally and Maki remains with no one.
    Commutative Property
    There are two pencil cases with a number of pencils. We add the pencil cases with the pencils. We change the order of them and add.
    Inverse Property of Addition
    There were 2 pieces of candy. Maki and Sally gets hungry and eats it all. Now, there are 0 pieces of candy.
    Identity Property of Addition
    Sally and Maki are selling 15 books. They keep on waiting for someone to buy a book but no one buys it. There is still 15 books.
    Identity Property of Multiplication
    Someone is giving out 2 pens to each students of KIS. The pens are too bad and cheap so no one wants it. one person asks for the pen.
    Multiplication Property of Zero
    There is a notebook with no notes. Sally and Maki lost all of their pencils, so there are no notes in that notebook.

  4. Commutative Property

    -Bob bought Lemon Water in the morning and bought a cookie after school. The next day he bought a cookie in the morning and Lemon Water after school.
    -One day, Bob made scrambled eggs for breakfast and hotdogs for lunch. The next day he made hotdogs for breakfast and scrambled eggs for lunch.

    Associative Property

    -Bob bought Jackie lunch and Alex bought himself lunch. The next day Bob bought Alex lunch and Jackie bought himself lunch.
    -Bob gave presents to his mom on her birthday but forgot to for his dad's. The next year he gave presents to his dad on his birthday but forgot to for his mom's.

    Inverse Property of Addition

    -Bob bought a car and used it for one year. The next year he decided to right the subway so he trashed his old car.
    -Bob bought ginger bread and then ate the ginger bread without a crumb left to be seen.

    Identity Property of Addition

    -Bob was was eating ice cream by himself and expected other people to give him more. An hour later no one gave him more so he was left alone.
    -Bob was selling five cars and ordered ten more cars that he could sell. However the car company declined the order and Bob was left with five cars to sell.

    Identity Property of Multiplication

    -A box of twelve pine apples was sent to Bob. Bob ordered six boxes of twelve pine apples but only one box was delivered with twelve pine apples.

    Multiplication Property of Zero

    -Bob ordered three hotdogs at BurgerKing but there was no hotdogs left so he ended up with zero hotdogs.
    -Bob bought three books and ordered three more books. But the books were all sold out so he ended up with zero books.
