What math concepts were you trying to teach?
ReplyDeleteAnswer: I was trying to teach the concept of addition properties. There were two properties; Identity property of addition and inverse property of addition.
Did you feel like you successfully accomplished your goal? Why or why not?
Answer: I felt like I successfully accomplished my goal because we were able to make a song that teaches the addition properties. There were concepts that we know, but the name of the properties were somewhat new. I put emphasis on the name of the property in the song. The song also had rhymes and rhythm that can be remembered easily.
What did you learn throughout this process?
Answer: I learned how to use garage band to create your own song. Also, I completely understood the concept of how to add integers. There were two properties of addition and vocabularies that I know now. I cooperated with my partner to create the song, and learned how to work and communicate with a partner.
What did YOU specifically do to contribute to this project?
Answer: I wrote lyrics of my own part and sang the song. I also edited the song with the partner.
What letter grade would you give yourself on group-work and why?
Answer: I think I would give my team an A because we worked together without any fight and divided the work evenly. Following the rubric, we made the song that is concentrated on an assigned concept (adding integers). There was also a catchy chorus that students can benefit.
What one group skill do you think you need to improve on the most? (staying on task, contributing more, conflict solving)
Answer: I think we should work more on communication because since we lived in different areas, we could not discuss important ideas about the project immediately. We had to discuss in school and appoint a meeting someplace else to finish the project which took most of our precious time.
1. What math concepts were you trying to teach?
ReplyDeleteI tried to teach the adding integers. There were two types of integers: Identity property of addition and inverse property of addition.
2. Did you feel like you successfully accomplished your goal? Why or why not?
I feel like I successfully accomplished my goal because I covered (in my opinion) all of the aspects of adding integers so that a first grader can understand.
3. What did you learn throughout this process?
I learned how to make simple background rhythms using garageband in hess then five minutes. I also learned more about adding integers and that there is more just than adding. I learned how cooperation with my partner is very important in this assignment.
4. What did YOU specifically do to contribute to this project?
I contributed to the project by going to jackie’s house so that it would be easier to do the project together. I made half of the lyrics and made and refined the background music with jackie at his house.
5. What letter grade would you give yourself on group-work and why?
I would give myself an A in the group work because I talked to my mom to schedule a day to go to jackie’s house and went to jackie’s house. I also made half of the lyrics and the background music with jackie.
6. What one group skill do you think you need to improve on the most? (staying on task, contributing more, conflict solving, etc.)
I think I need to improve talking louder when recording and not use my regular voice. I thought it would be a problem going to jackie’s house because we might not stay on task but it turned out to go well.
1. What math concepts were you trying to teach?
ReplyDeleteWe were trying to teach how to subtract integers.
2. Did you feel like you successfully accomplished your goal? Why or why not?
I feel like I successfully accomplished my goal because in the song, we say what the problem would be like, and how the answer should turn up. Also, we had a rhythm to our song and we were able to hand in everything on time.
3. What did you learn throughout this process?
I learned how to use garage band better. Also, I learned more deeply how to subtract integers.
What did YOU specifically do to contribute to this project?
The way that I contribute to this project was making the rough draft of the lyrics. After that, Annette and I went over it and changed things that didn't make sense or weren't necessary.
5. What letter grade would you give yourself on group-work and why?
I would give myself and my partner an A because we were focused while doing the work we needed to do. Also, we both had things that we needed to do individually and we worked together on the things that we thought we needed to do together.
6. What one group skill do you think you need to improve on the most? (staying on task, contributing more, conflict solving, etc.)
I think I need to work on staying on task and my communication skills. I think that I need to work on this because me and my partner didn't really know when we could get together to work on the project.
Integers Song Self Reflection Questions (Annette Kim)
ReplyDelete1. What math concepts were you trying to teach?
+The math concept that we were trying to teach in our song was “How to subtract positive and negative Integers”.
2. Did you feel like you successfully accomplished your goal? Why or why not?
+I don’t think that I successfully accomplished my goal since my goal was to explain ever process clearly so that even first and second graders can understand. Also, we didn’t explain clearly that if two negative signs meet, it becomes positive. -(-) When I was first learning how to subtract negative integers, I had a hard time learning this part. So, if I can make the song again, I will try to explain more clearly even if the song gets too long or out of rhythm.
3. What did you learn throughout this process?
+I didn’t learn much about the subtracting integers in this process because all the knowledge of subtracting integers came from the previous studies. But I learned how to use garage band better in this project!
4. What did YOU specifically do to contribute to this project?
+By using this program called Skype, I made the lyrics (rough draft) with my partner Alina. We edited some parts together and sang the lyrics in the practice room.
5. What letter grade would you give yourself on group-work and why?
+I would like to give my partner Alina an A(100) because she was always ready and payed attention when we were making our song. Although the final project wasn’t best thing in the world, the process we were going through to make this song “was the best thing in the world.”
6. What one group skill do you think you need to improve on the most? (Staying on task, contributing more, conflict solving, etc.)
+I think I should improve more on trying to finish project as quickly as possible. Me and my partner finished this project almost at the last minute! Whew, the due dates ARE closer than they seem to appear! Starting the project and putting my best concentrating skills and effort will help us finish the project earlier AND make a better project since we will have more time to go over the song.
1. What math concepts were you trying to teach?
ReplyDeleteI was trying to teach how to add integers, positive and negative.
2. Did you feel like you successfully accomplished your goal? Why or why not?
I think I tried my best, but I don't know if I reached the expectations. I think I did accomplish my goal of finishing my project worthy enough to be a song because I think my lyrics were about my topic, adding integers. Even though it was not that clear, I added more information at the end if the audience don't understand.
3. What did you learn throughout this process?
I learned how to manage your time well especially this time because I went to the States, I did not have a clear idea what I had to do. This taught me how to use my time to go meet Mr. Jobe and discuss and ask questions to do a better job on the project or other assignments.
4. What did YOU specifically do to contribute to this project?
What I did to contribute to this project was that kept on singing the lyrics to get used to and added some actions when I was singing. Since I was not assigned with a partner, I did not use any social networking sites or applications.
5. What letter grade would you give yourself on group-work and why?
I would give my project a A- because I don't think I did perfect, but not horrible. Also, I was not confident enough to sing by myself so I mumbled a little bit.
6. What one group skill do you think you need to improve on the most? (staying on task, contributing more, conflict solving, etc.)
I think staying on task is the group skill that I need to improve the most because I get distracted whenever I work with my computer. I always try not to get distracted and someday I will not get distracted.
